My new venture

Finding myself here, writing a blog, having said “there is no way i’m ever going to understand how these things work” is rather ironic.  I have been listening to audio book after audio book of successful people telling me how they did it, and every time I talk back to the radio, telling it i won’t ever manage that…  but, here i am..!!

I’m Lynne.  I guess my name gives my age away, but to be sure, im 52…  bloody hell, it looks older when its written down..!  I’m a bit of a nobody, doing nothing that is going to change the world, but, i’m very happy to share it all with you…!!

I probably have an interesting and touching back story, but i will have to venture there as time goes on.  Here and now, I am up to my neck in my new business, Rowantree Range.

I’ve always loved working with tools, hand tools, power tools, making and building: Helping my grandad, who was a carpenter, make my dolls, a wardrobe for their clothes, and a guineapig hutch..  I helped my Dad, in the loosest term of the phrase, rebuild a holiday chalet on Coopers Beach, on Mersea Island in Essex.  Back then, though, any more than helping to do “mens stuff” was not an option for me… although I loved creating things from wood and getting dirty doing it, I wasnt encouraged in that direction for work.

It is only over the past few years, that the small family business that I worked for, for almost 35 years, has finally closed its doors, and I have struggled to find a proper job, I appear to be unemployable..!!  So, I have finally considered, with no other options open to me, that i might be able to turn these negatives into a positive and do something I have always loved, and make a living from it too..🤞  Let me be clear.  The “making a living from it” part, is not happening yet.  You join me very early in this process, and there is very little money about.

The Bare Bones of my small venture is Welding horse shoes, making Small Wooden items, creating Solar water Features, and most recently, creating Manky Candles from recycled wax.  Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose runs through my veins now and Rowantree Range is being built with that Ethos at its core… I won’t throw anything away, because it will come in handy one day.!!

So, that is a brief outline…  I will offer you regular updates and hope you will enjoy being my unsuspecting passenger for as long as it lasts..
